Arrival via A5 (Highway 5): coming from the direction of Frankfurt, take exit Nr. 44 Karlsruhe-Durlach. If you are coming from the direction of Basel, then you are already on the A5, but if you come from the direction of Stuttgart/München, change first the A8 for A5 in the direction of Frankfurt.

Exit Nr. 44 is a motorway interchange. Follow the B10 in the direction of Karlsruhe City (not Karlsruhe-Durlach!).

The way to the underground car park of the University and on Schlossplatz:

Do not follow the sign "KIT Campus Süd"!

At the 5th traffic light (Durlacher Tor) drive straight ahead, along the university campus righthand to Kronenplatz. The pedestrian zone starts here. Take the right lane and turn right into Waldhornstraße. In Waldhornstraße you will find the entrance to the underground car park of the KIT on the right side after the first traffic light. You can also take another way, following the street (left turn) and turning right into the entrance to the underground car park at Schloßplatz. You can reach the Institute of Mechanics (building 10.30) by foot in 10 minutes.

The way to the underground car park of Fritz-Erler-Straße:

After passing St. Bernhard Church (red sandstone) turn left into Kapellenstrasse after the fifth traffic light at the tram station “Durlacher Tor”. Keep right. Turn right into Kriegsstaße and then right into Fritz-Erler-Straße. The entrance of the underground car park is under the pedestrian bridge. You can reach the Institute of Mechanics (building 10.30) by foot in 10 minutes.

The way to the parking site “Fasanengarten”:

Turn right at the 5th traffic light (Durlacher Tor) near St.-Bernhard Church (red sandstone) (right lane); the signpost says “Neureut/KIT Campus-Süd/Stadion”. Now you are driving on Adenauerring. Drive past the main exit of the KIT, pass the next crossing, turn right to the next street. Here is the parking site of building 50.41 of the KIT. You can reach the Institute of Mechanics (building 10.30) by foot in 10 minutes.

There is an hourly EC/ICE connection with Mannheim, Freiburg, Köln, Basel and Stuttgart. Detailed information about train connections can be found in the internet from the electronic time-table of Deutsche Bahn (http://www.bahn.de/).

Leave Karlsruhe central station through the main entrance towards the city. In front of the building there is a tram station. Take one of the tram lines 2, 4 or S4/S41 to the station Durlacher Tor. The lines S4 and S41 start to the right, if you face the opposite of the railway station, the lines 2 and 4 start to the left. You need a ticket for 2 zones which costs 2.10 Euro. Get off at the station Durlacher Tor. (trip takes about 10 minutes)
